Community Ahrenviöl
Ahrenviöl is a small village at the edge of the geest, 14km from Husum. Ahrenviöl has ca. 470 citizens and is still formed by agriculture and intact village life. Traditions like the Schützengilde (since1586)(shooting club), harvest festival, village and children's festival are still important.
An attraction in Ahrenviöl is the farmer Christian Thoroe. He is Germany's most successful breeder of Anglo-Arabs and riding ponies. Apart from a baker and grocer, there are also two lovely taverns with 'very good cuisine'.
Are you looking for a present? Ahrenviöl has two Töpferdeelen (potteries), present articles, knitting studio and wool marketing.
Bike and hiking paths lead through forest and meadow. The public swimming pool is nearby. At the edge of the village is farmer Söth's fallow deer park, well worth a visit.
